10) WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SerialComm 3-WIRE AND 7-WIRE RS232 REPEATERS?
Answer: The REP-232-3P is a 3-wire repeater which repeats only the data lines - TX, RX and GND; the REP-232-7P is a 7-wire repeater which repeats both the data and the handshake lines - TX, RX, GND, RTS, CTS, DTR, and DSR. We offer two optically isolated RS232 data repeaters which come in pairs, and are more cost effective solutions then extending RS232. The optical isolation feature of these repeaters helps protect against voltage surges and lightning strikes at the end equipment points, and on the interconnection cable.
