Frequently Asked Questions
RS232/RS485/RS422 QUESTIONS
13) WHAT DO I DO IF MY RS232 DEVICE DOES NOT POWER THE PORT POWERED CONVERTER?
Answer: In some cases where the voltage swing of your RS232 port is less then +6V/-6V, insufficient voltage is available from the RS232 TX line to power the converter. In this case, we recommend using either our CON-422-PIE or CON-485-PIE, which include the option to provide power from an external power supply. Other optionally external powered converts we offer are the CON-422/485-EE9 and the CON-422/485-EE4.
