ETHERNET QUESTIONS

5) WHAT IS THE UDP/IP PROTOCOL?

Answer: UDP/IP is part of the Internet protocol suite, and stands for 'User Datagram Protocol (UDP) / Internet Protocol (IP)'. UDP/IP (or 'UDP') is a communications protocol that is a less robust alternate to TCP/IP, in that UDP does not guarantee message delivery, ordering, or duplicate protection. However, it is appropriate for use in applications where guaranteed delivery, message ordering, and avoidance of duplicate messages is not critical.
