7) WHAT IS THE ICMP PROTOCOL?
Answer: ICMP is the ‘Internet Control Message Protocol’. It is one of the message protocols of the Internet Protocol (IP). ICMP is used by network devices, like routers, to send error messages indicating, for example, that a requested service is not available or that a host or router could not be reached. Example ICMP messages: ‘Destination Network Unknown’; ‘Destination Host Unreachable’.
