10) HOW DOES THE COMPUTER WITH THE INSTALLED USB ADAPTOR RECOGNIZE THE ADAPTER?
Answer: Once the USB driver is installed, a virtual serial port (COM port) is created on the computer’s USB port. To identify the serial port being used, look at the hardware configuration on the computer's control panel. (On Windows computers, this is visible under Control Panel/System/Device Manager/Ports.) This COM port must be accessed in order to operate the USB Adapter.
